The process of manufacture involves cleaning, drying, pulverizing, sieving, blending and packing of spices such as chilli, pepper, turmeric, coriander, et cetera individually or in combination with other spices. There are various formulae for curry powder, chaat masala, et cetera but the ingredients like red chilli, black pepper, cloves, coriander seed, fenugreek seed, ginger and turmeric are typically common. The comminution of spices is one of the most difficult size reduction tasks, on the one hand because spices vary so much both in structure and grind ability, and on the other hand because the quality of some spices such as curcuma, for example, can vary widely as a function of the planting method and time of harvesting.

Cleaning

Horizontal centrifugal screen /sifter construction comprises a stationary horizontal cylindrical sieve, an internal rotating shaft fitted along the sieve length. In operation, material to be sifted is feed into the sifter inlet feed box. The product is then uniformly feed into the stationary horizontal cylindrical sieve by means of the feeding hopper. The centrifugally force the fines material against and through the screen. Soft whilst oversize particles pass out the end of the screen. Adjustable weirs control the flow of oversize and retention time in the sifter.
